Home Use and Distance Learning

A.R.R.O.W.® has been successfully used as a Home Learning Tool for many years. Following a one-day assessment and training session at the A.R.R.O.W. centre, pupils and parents can begin a home-based programme.

A parent in the UK with severe Dyslexia first used the approach with herself then with her daughter. She states:

"It gave Rebecca much more confidence and her spelling improved tremendously enabling her to get excellent GCSE results.

I have myself progressed from typing very slowly with numerous errors to being able to take dictation with minimal spelling mistakes. “

Sandra joined A.R.R.O.W.'s Distance Learning Programme while in Year 6 at a Birmingham primary school. Although her parents hoped she would gain a place at a selective grammar school, her school felt she was unlikely to succeed and could offer no additional support.

Following an assessment at the A.R.R.O.W. Centre in Somerset, Sandra completed the home-based programme, returning for three review sessions. Her mother wrote:

"Sandra's reading and spelling have shown measurable improvement... her confidence and fluency in group reading have grown... she needs no prompting to complete her tasks and enjoys her independence with the laptop."

Over the course of the programme, Sandra gained 32 months in reading and 18 months in spelling. She went on to sit—and pass—the entrance examination for one of the UK's most highly regarded grammar schools.
